More in the context of "Do they know the way to San Jose?"
AOL built its business on three very useful functions:
1. Easy Access to the Internet
2. Email
3. Instant Messaging
Now with its business in the toilet – it is mulling making it free. Sadly again they just don’t get it. I still have an AOL subscription. It is for emergencies and I have not used the account in 2 years. I have only 1 (and I mean that) Compuserve email account that I have sent mail to in the last 3 years.
The world has moved on. Time to bury the memory of Steve Case

AOL is considering offering its services free to users with high-speed Internet connections, gambling that ad revenue will offset the loss of subscription fees.
