The Purple Crocodile

In the Netherlands there is a new term that has passed into the vernacular. Its called the Purple Crocodile after a well publicized event when an officious public service employee refused to hand back a child’s stuffed animal because of “policy”. Now both Dutch politicians and judges are adopting different methods to eliminate “Purple Crocodiles” from the legal and administrative system. IE an aggressive push to eradicate nonsensical rules from the everyday life of its citizens.

I am sure that in our industry we can think of many of them. WOW where do we start in Airline pricing.

Perhaps I can ask you all to think of some great examples of Purple Dinosaurs in Travel. These can be commercially stupid things. (like audiotext loops that don’t allow you to speak to a human… you know – customer service that isn’t either!) Or they can be rules such as the definition of Gel!

Have a think and I will share the best of them with you all

Cheers

Timothy
